I’m Nana Freitag, a 28-year-old German-Togolese artist based in Cologne.

My work explores themes of identity, uncertainty, and doubt, as well as dreamscapes that emerge between reality and imagination. Through painting and drawing, I create worlds shaped by emotions, encounters, and existential questions around love, grief, joy, and meaning. Central to my practice are my recurring green beings—figures that allow me to put my lived reality into perspective. They act as both mirrors of my inner world and projections for those who engage with my work. I primarily paint with acrylics and create drawings both digitally and analog, often combining the two.

For many viewers, my works feel like stepping into another world—one that is uniquely mine, yet resonates with their own. They often invite moments of empathy, introspection, and daydream, blurring the boundaries between the self and the other.
